Article

Landecker Democracy Fellow Asha Iman Veal visited 6018 North experimental arts and culture space in Chicago earlier this month for a curator’s walk-through in advance of her Chicago Architecture Biennial project this September. The “Raisin” exhibition brings together a global network of artists who are creating public conversations around justice, class, identity, migration, immigration, and residence, in many different places and ways.

The Chicago Architecture Biennial’s 2021 concept is “The Available City.” You can read more here. To learn more about Asha Iman’s work, you can visit her website.

Asha Iman is one of thirty Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
