Landecker Fellow Mamobo Ogoro has won the Activist of the year in the B.I.G Awards 2021 by Black and Irish, a non-profit organization that highlights and celebrates the identity of Black and Mixed race Irish people. Its goal is to engage with the wider Irish community and to spread awareness of their experiences, stories, successes and struggles.
Mamobo’s award was picked up by the Irish Times, where she was featured for her success as founder of Gorm Media, a social media platform that “curates common ground through conversation that matters.” Its mission is to unify communities by sharing stories, perspectives and voices to prove that our differences make our strengths.

Mamobo is one of thirty 2021-2022 Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
