Creative Sanctum's Toolkit for Sustaining Democracy

Landecker Democracy Fellow and Humanity in Action Senior Fellow Sharon M. Chin is Founder and Executive Director of digital magazine Creative Sanctum. This month, following the insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6th, Creative Sanctum curated a toolkit of creative resources to facilitate discussion, reflection, and inspiration for sustaining democracy. From the music playlists of James Baldwin, billboards that inspire discourse, tributes to Martin Luther King Jr., and poetry, this resource reminds individuals that the arts can help us remain hopeful and connect us to the activists who preceded us as we pursue social justice today.

Sharon is one of thirty Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
