New Web Conversation with Reflections on Migration, Identity & Belonging

Last year, we relaunched our website to meet the demands of our community in a way that is flexible and current. Against this backdrop, today we launch the second edition of our Web Conversation series. The idea is to take a topic critical to our work and ask Fellows, Senior Fellows, board members, staff members and friends of the organization to present talks, essays, images and suggested readings that deal with the subject.

Since the day of our founding, migration, a root cause of the opportunities and challenges our increasingly diverse societies are facing, has been at the forefront of our minds. Over the past years, at Humanity in Action we have acted and reflected much around migration-related topics. Among many initiatives, we have

• developed and implemented numerous Senior Fellow Action Projects around migration’s causes and consequences, including projects like the Conflict Kitchen or For Those Who Die at our Borders;
• hosted events such as “Migration as the New Normal” or the Senior Fellow forum “Flight and Migration – Societies in Transition;“
• published books such as the interactive educational publication”On Refugees – Why all this Hate?” for Polish students and the public; and
• featured articles by Fellows and Senior Fellows on topics as diverse as LGBT migration to Europe, the US refugee crises of the 1980s, or climate-caused migration.

For the next two months, we invite all of you to weigh in with reflections on migration as it relates to your communities, work and lives. To submit an article proposal or a recommended reading, please get in touch with us as we look for reflections on the issues in question from Fellows, Senior Fellows and the public. For the next Web Conversation in summer 2020, we plan to address digital rights in various contexts.
