Humanity in Action is pleased to announce the newly-selected Fellows from the Netherlands. From a competitive pool of applicants, 16 Fellows were selected to join the 2025 Humanity in Action Fellows cohort.

“We’re excited to welcome this group of promising change-makers to our community,” shared Jorien Janssen, National Director of Humanity in Action The Netherlands. “With the Fellowship programs, we hope to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and network to reflect on societal challenges, and to set them up to collectively build toward just societies,” she added.

We’re excited to welcome this group of promising change-makers to our community.

Two of the selected Fellows will travel to Berlin to participate in Humanity in Action’s in-person program exploring post-migrant perspectives on Germany as an Einwanderungsland. The program will take place from July 7 – 22, 2025, and will focus on Germany as a post-migrant society, examining historical insights and contemporary strategies for inclusion and belonging.

Two Fellows will further take part in the Copenhagen Fellowship from August 11-28, also in person. This year, the Copenhagen Fellows will explore the intersection between climate change, human rights and democracy in a world in crises, with a special focus on the Rights of Future Generations.

Another two Fellows will join the Sarajevo Fellowship, taking place from July 9 – 31, 2025 in a hybrid setting. Their program will culminate in the NED Action Week, during which Fellows will develop and implement small-scale civic initiatives addressing critical societal issues.

Finally, ten Fellows participate in our office’s program – the Amsterdam Fellowship, taking place from June 17 – July 3 in person. This year, the Amsterdam Fellowship will focus on history and activism as tools for navigating the present and shaping the future. Using Dutch history as an example, the program will add a special focus on colonial history and its repercussions in today’s society.
