Chris graduated from the University of Rhode Island with degrees in Political Science, Writing & Rhetoric, and French. While there, he received a David L. Boren Scholarship, which allowed him to study French and Wolof intensively in Dakar, Senegal. His experiences in Senegal and his own faith experience have culminated in a deep interest in the relationship between religion and human rights. He aims to explore the pressing challenges that arise when religion plays a role in the public sphere, as well as the ways in which faith motivates action in defense of human rights and social justice. Currently, Chris is working to complete his M.A in Political Science at McGill University, where his thesis explores faith-based child begging practices in Senegal and the relationship between the local Sufi brotherhoods and the state. In his spare time he enjoys trying new foods, cat-spotting, and reading and watching sci-fi and fantasy.
