Kacey Fang is a MSc student at Oxford, where she studies the relationship between depression and suicidal behavior among psychiatric inpatients in China. Her work builds on independent research she conducted in China while on a Yale fellowship. Kacey graduated from Yale with degrees in History and Cognitive Science. Her theses investigated the xenophobic roots of US drug policy as well as the relationship between loneliness and age-related changes in the brain. Kacey also spent a semester studying public health in Vietnam, South Africa, and Argentina, and intends to spend the next year studying refugee health in Malaysia on a Fulbright grant. Outside of school, she tutors low-income immigrant youth, performed in a slam poetry group, and led health equity initiatives in New Haven. She is passionate about the intersection of health equity, migration, and social justice and hopes to continue working with refugee and immigrant populations in the future.
