Marijana Markotić

Marijana is a Humanity in Action Senior Fellow whose work has been focused primarily on peace and development in the international development sector in the Western Balkans. Marijana has multiple years of experience working at the United Nations Development Programme and has worked as a lecturer and trainer for several local and regional governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Marijana holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a Master’s degree in Disaster resilience and disaster risk reduction. Her academic efforts and development, her career at the UNDP and her community work have been focused on peacebuilding and peace and conflict studies and practices. Currently, Marijana is a Rotary Peace Fellow at the Uppsala University in Sweden, at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research where she will for the following two years work on identifying and analyzing violent and nonviolent behaviours as well as the structural mechanisms attending conflicts.
