Project Overview and Objectives
The “European Future of BiH” project addresses the need for clearer and factual information about Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European Union accession process, especially for young citizens. Due to prevalent misinformation from media and political narratives, public perception of EU integration is often skewed, leading to misconceptions that can reduce civic engagement and weaken morale. This project tackles the challenge of misinformation by establishing a reliable online platform to clarify and demystify the EU integration process for BiH, showing its tangible benefits for citizens.
The project takes a structured approach, aiming to educate the youth and the broader public about the state and benefits of EU integration, providing a dependable source of information, and promoting civic involvement, especially among younger generations. By addressing the division and nationalistic rhetoric that remain potent legacies of the Dayton Peace Agreement, this initiative seeks to counteract narratives that imply BiH is compromising its sovereignty and statehood in the integration process. Ultimately, it aims to foster an informed, hopeful outlook on the country’s European future.
The primary objectives of this project are to:
- Inform and educate the youth and general public on BiH’s current EU integration process.
- Establish a trusted online platform for factual information and analysis regarding EU accession.
- Encourage greater civic participation among youth in BiH.
The project is realized through a series of social media content, focusing on brief and engaging Instagram reels as the main format. These reels will feature contributions from diplomats, local politicians, and NGO activists, providing insights into specific themes related to BiH’s EU accession. Each reel will address core issues in the European integration process, presenting factual perspectives and expert analyses to clarify how these developments impact the daily lives of BiH citizens.
A broader goal is for these reels to reach viral status, allowing them to engage a wide audience. The content will also be adapted for TikTok, enhancing the project’s reach among the youth demographic. Weekly themes will address the most pressing concerns regarding EU integration, offering accessible explanations on complex issues and highlighting the positive changes that EU accession can bring.
This targeted and transparent approach to disseminating information aims to build a foundation of trust and knowledge, empowering young citizens of BiH to engage actively in civic life with a more optimistic and informed perspective on the country’s future within the EU.
