How to Fix Democracy with Earl Lewis

Since its origins, democracy has been a work in progress. Today, many question its resilience. The Bertelsmann Foundation and Humanity in Action have teamed up with Andrew Keen, author of How to Fix the Future, to launch How to Fix Democracy: a video and podcast series exploring practical responses to the threats facing democracies around the world. Host Andrew Keen interviews prominent thinkers, writers, politicians, technologists, and business leaders who enlighten and challenge us as we seek the answers to How to Fix Democracy.

Dr. Earl Lewis, founding Director of the Center for Social Solutions and Professor of History at the University of Michigan, discusses the dignity of labour in an increasingly automated world, the growing diversity of the United States as an asset and the opportunities to restructure American society. Echoing the mission of Humanity in Action, Dr. Lewis emphasizes the importance of investing in communities and individuals who help shape, organize and change communities to strengthen American democracy and equity.
