Asha Shajahan on Protecting ourselves and our families during holiday gatherings

Details

Article

Millions of people are expected to travel this Holiday season. To discuss what can be done to have a safer celebration, Landecker Senior Fellow Dr. Asha Shajahan was interviewed for Click on Detroit.

If we are going to be at indoor gatherings of people, Asha suggests to “know if they’re vaccinated or not.” If we cannot be certain, then it is recommended to wear a mask. With the more infectious omicron variant currently being dominant across the US, it is recommended to wear a three layer surgical mask or the N-95 mask, if available.

Asha is of thirty 2020-2021 Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
