Details

Article

We are excited to present Annika Isfeldt who is the first recipient of the October ’43 Travel Grant. The project is two-fold and takes place on the Faroe Islands: The first phase is dedicated to fieldwork and explores the socioeconomic challenges pertaining to the periphery of the Faroe Islands. The second phase sets up a number of citizen meetings with the aim of fostering sustainable change in the small towns.

Background on the Project

The tourism industry is growing in the Faroe Islands and, as a result, the gap between center and periphery has intensified. This process of increasing inequality creates new challenges for the people living in the smaller towns.
