September abounds in anniversaries and events of great importance to the mission of HIA Poland. It is a time when we remember the tragic events of World War II, as well as a moment of reflection on the condition and future of contemporary societies in connection with the International Day of Democracy (September 15) and the International Day of Peace (September 21).

We know from our experience that only reflection supported by action can bring about social change. We are aware of how difficult it can be to undertake such initiatives, so we reach back into history to present you with biographies of “ordinary” people who turned out to be true heroes and heroines. Regardless of the danger they faced, they undertook the effort and risk of saving others. Some of these people paid the highest price during World War II for helping their Jewish friends, neighbours, or simply fellow citizens.

We want the personal stories of people for whom peace, freedom and diversity were among the most important values to become an inspiration for your own actions.

Change begins with each and every one of us!

That is why we are not idle – we are developing the Break the Vicious Circle! project. We are currently working on a mobile application, which you will soon be able to use.

The project is funded by the EVZ Foundation and the Federal Foreign Office as part of the program YOUNG PEOPLE remember
