Conference - Youth and European Integrations – Challenges and Opportunities

Humanity in Action BiH, in cooperation with the Directorate for European Integration, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, organized a one-day conference titled “Youth and European Integration – Challenges and Opportunities”. The conference was organized as part of the Europe Week celebrations in BiH and took place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

The conference was formally opened by Elvira Habota, Director of the Directorate for European Integration; Justin Coulson, UNFPA Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Adnan Husić, Representative of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH; and H.E. Luigi Soreca, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH and EU Special Representative in BiH.

The main objective of the conference was to highlight the importance of involving young people and non-governmental organizations focused on youth issues in the process of European integration, with particular emphasis on the benefits and opportunities this process offers to young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Through three panel discussions with representatives of academia, civil society, media and government, participants explored the findings of relevant research on the status and prospects of youth in BiH within the context of European integration, the significance of networking among civil society organizations, the adoption of strategic documents, and the necessary next steps to enhance youth engagement. Additionally, the panels showcased examples of good practices in involving civil society organizations in the European integration processes of neighboring countries.
