Behavioral insights, through a combination of diverse disciplines such as psychology, behavioral economics, cognitive science and social science, examines how people think, behave and make decisions,” explains the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).

As part of their programming, UNOCT is organizing the Behavioral Insights Academy taking place in person in Doha. In 2023, Landecker Fellow Nicole Rieber was selected as one of the few participants of this prestigious training.

The Academy is conceptualized as a uniquely intensive, interactive, and multidisciplinary course to train experienced practitioners in applying behavioral insights in their work on P/CVE-related issues,” the official program introduces the initiative.

Nicole is participating in a five-day course featuring 1) a theoretical grounding in disciplines such as behavioral economics, social psychology and mental health; and 2) an applied practicum in behavioral solutions design, testing and scaling.

During the course of the following months, the UNOCT Hub will support participants in further developing behaviorally informed solutions within their home professional context and in creating space for greater use of behavioural methods within their organization as a whole.
