Landecker Democracy Fellow Flavia Matei’s project “Labor dispute and care” has recently won the SozialMarie award for social innovation.

“Labor dispute and care” is an advocacy group, co-organized by Flavia and her colleagues from #IG24 – a grassroots organization fighting for labor rights and better working conditions for migrant care workers in Austria. The project aims at providing support for migrant live-in caregivers in Austria. To this end, they offer different services, such as counselling, assistance, training, and support in situations of crisis. The project has had a wide impact and reached over 11,000 caregivers.

SozialMarie is the first prize for social innovation in Europe. It is awarded annually to innovative projects in Central Eastern Europe and offers them financial support and a public platform.
