We are thrilled to announce that Humanity in Action’s animated short film “My Father’s War” has been officially selected to have its World Premiere at the esteemed American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs Festival). The 11th Annual AmDocs hybrid festival in Palm Springs, California will take place online between April 7-11, 2022.

My Father’s War

“My Father’s War” is the third and last part of Humanity in Action’s new animated documentary film trilogy TRACES-Portraits of Resistance, Survival and Resolve.

The trilogy was co-produced by Humanity in Action’s Executive Director Judith Goldstein and Irene Braam, Executive Director of the Bertelsmann Foundation.

My Father’s War animates the experiences of Peter Hein and his son David. As a Jewish child in the Netherlands in the 1940’s, Peter was separated from his parents and whisked from hiding place to hiding place to escape deportation. Decades later, his own son David attempts to forge his own path after his father’s mental health disintegrates under the weight of his memories.

The AmDocs Festival

Since 2019, AmDocs has been consistently named one of the Top 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals in the World by FilmFreeway. In addition to “My Father’s War”, another one of Humanity in Action’s animated creation, “Two Trees in Jerusalem”, has also been selected for the 11th Annual AmDocs hybrid festival.

Last year, the first film of the trilogy, “Voices in the Void”, was too selected for the Festival.
