Caya van de Weg is a writer, researcher, and activist in the making whose work mixes historical inquiry with public engagement. With roots in climate activism — she helped organize the largest youth-led climate strike in the Netherlands — Caya has since expanded her practice through historical research and (multimedia) storytelling. She is currently pursuing a degree in History with a minor in Digital Practices at Minerva University, where her studies focus on nationalism, migration, and collective memory. Her writing blends critical analysis with personal narrative, exploring themes of belonging, identity, and postcolonial legacies. As a research assistant and scriptwriter for The Present Past, Caya brings public history to life on YouTube through engaging narratives. Her Substack blog — CAYA TRIES — is a personal workshop to reflect on the exploration of new learnings; be they creative endeavors or research rabbit holes.
