Driven by the desire to understand the motives and inspirational sources behind people’s personal and spiritual life, Esther Kamphuis started studying religion in Utrecht. During her BA studies, she interned at the ‘story of a refugee’ project by PAX for Peace and spent an exchange semester in Istanbul at Boğaziçi University studying integration and peace building. Esther’s goal is to become a bridge builder by connecting (youth) communities and thereby transforming conflict and prejudices on race, religion and gender. Right now, she is undergoing an MA in Building Interreligious Relations at VU Amsterdam, where she receives training in hermeneutics, post-colonialism and the dialogical skills needed to become an interfaith leader. Alongside this academic thinking, Esther tries to develop other sides of herself, convinced that heart and hands are just as important to a person as the head. She enjoys going to the theater, sailing and baking.
