After graduating from high school in Frankfurt, Maria went to Cape Town and volunteered in a day care centre for adults with psychiatric disabilities for one year. While studying Romance Philology in the following years, she contributed her experiences by volunteering for an email counseling organization and her university’s phone counselling service for fellow students. In 2018, Maria started a MA in Economic Sociology, giving her the scientific tools to look at the relationship between economic systems, political systems and societies. Through working at a foundation that gives scholarships to migrant pupils in Germany as well as undertaking internships at an activist NGO and at a political newspaper, she is trying to discover different possibilities to make creating a more just society not only her vocation, but her professional future.
