Pooja (she/her) serves as Co-Director of the Humanity in Action Democracy Fellowship. She began her journey within the Democracy Fellowship as a Community Coordinator before transitioning to the role of Training Lead. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology, and a Master’s degree in International Relations. Currently, she is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Neuropsychology at Humboldt University, Berlin.
Pooja has 12 years of experience in the development and diplomatic sectors across Asia and Europe. Some highlights include working with GIZ and the United States Embassy in Nepal in strategic planning, public relations, and project management of art, culture, and exchanges programs.
Additionally, Pooja is a theatre actor and has performed in plays such as Chiso Bhanjyan, The Vagina Monologues, The Diary of Anne Frank, Three Sisters, No means No, and Neighbours. She is trained in community forms of theatre such as Theatre of the Oppressed and Playback Theatre. She is also a dedicated community organizer who employs these theatrical forms to ignite critical thinking, explore alternatives, and cultivate group solidarity and empathy using storytelling circles.
