Selma Zahirovic is a Humanity in Action Senior Fellow from the 2007 Amsterdam Program, and has been actively involved with the HIA network ever since. An international development professional with expertise in project management, sustainability, energy and gender issues, Selma worked with the leading international organizations, such as the World Bank, IFC, DFID, OSCE, the nonprofits like the Open Society Fund, and the Bosnian government. Currently, she focuses on sustainability issues in the fashion industry. Previously, she managed energy access projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, energy efficiency in the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe, and pioneered gender mainstreaming in energy operations at the World Bank. She also promoted strategic planning and social inclusion agenda in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as an advisor to Directorate for Economic Planning of, a government entity responsible for country-level strategic planning processes. Selma holds a Masters in International Economics with a specialization in Energy, Resources and Environment from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
