Tamara Köhler

Tamara Köhler is currently completing her dual Master’s degrees in Sociology and Political Science at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Her thesis centers on the intersection of systemic inequalities and their role in political affiliation formation, specifically how populist support of authoritarian leadership is undermining democracy. Her plan is to continue with this theme in her doctoral research, seeking solutions and support for the disenfranchised and bolstering our fragile democracies. Tamara is inspired by the belief that understanding the complex intersecting dimensions of societal inequalities leads to greater empathy and more tailored alternative solutions to the current political polarization.

When not emerging into these topics, Tamara can be found traveling to the ends of the world and back. The HIA fellowship is a way for her to connect and exchange ideas and experiences outside of academia.
