Tigist Yohannes is a master’s student at Erasmus University Rotterdam’s International Institute of Social Studies. She is majoring in Social Justice Perspective, specializing in Conflict Studies. Her interest in Social Justice began in 2019 when she had the chance to participate in a certified training program to understand human rights and human dignity. During this training, she discovered the importance of standing up for everyone and upholding basic rights. Tigist chose to focus on Conflict Studies because, as a woman from war-torn Tigray, she wanted to learn more about how armed conflict can affect human dignity and human rights. When she’s not working to raise awareness of those living in crisis zones, she likes painting and graphic design as well as spending time with her friends and family.
