Tim Herbold graduated from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2012 with a degree in Political Science and History. From 2008 till 2012, he was an active member of the local Amnesty International group in Mainz. During this time, he organised various events, fundraisers and public speeches. Tim became the speaker of the Amnesty-District of Mainz and Wiesbaden in 2011. In the same year, he helped establish a counselling service for refugees in Mainz and also participated in the counselling sessions.
Since 2012, Tim has been studying International Studies/Peace and Conflict Studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt. There, he helped establish an independent student discussion/activist group that is concerned with (neo-)colonialism within International Relations and the increasing militarization of societies in general. Reflecting on critical (race) theory, Tim decided about a year ago to discontinue his activities with Amnesty. Since then, he became an active supporter of grassroots refugee organizations, helping to organize several protests and other events in and around Frankfurt.
