Sem Roefs has worked as the director of an Urban Farm in Amsterdam, is a senior social innovator at And The People and a food activist. He sees the world through the lens of food, looking at politics, economics, water, history, land use and more. All with the aim of creating a world where good, healthy and affordable food is accessible to everyone!

He is an official Short Chain Advisor for Europe and has been a board member of the Slow Food Youth Network and other NGOs that are active in the field of environment and food. He is also an active member of the Green Party and the Social Democratic Party, working as a campaign manager and contributing to the election manifesto. He has an MA in Social Entrepreneurship and a BSC in Cultural Heritage.

He has received awards for his efforts, including Food 100, (2019 & 2021), Sustainable Young 100 (2020), Trouw Sustainable 100 (part of the winning organisations in 2022 and 2023).
