Inspired by the decreasing political engagement of young people and the fact that most high school and university students do not understand the basic political processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EDVACAY Fellows Filip Stanišić, Merisa Krišćo, Amina Agić, and Enis Mlivić decided to launch a project that would present politics to youth in a creative and accessible way. The idea emerged from a group discussion about how difficult it is to find simple and understandable educational materials about the political system of BiH. As a solution, the fellows chose to create a series of short animated films as the simplest, most accessible, and most engaging way to explain complex topics to the young audience that was the target group of this project.
The fellows designed and produced a series of short animated films explaining the key elements of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s educational and political structure. The project aimed to enhance political literacy among youth, encourage them to independently explore how the state functions, and help them recognize their own role in its development. The fellows wanted to spark a “domino effect”, to use curiosity, discussion, and humor to motivate their peers to become more actively involved in social processes.
Together, the fellows selected topics, researched professional literature and media sources, wrote scripts, collaborated with an animator, and recorded voiceovers. In the end, they produced five short films (an introductory one and four thematic episodes), all published on the project’s Instagram page. To reach as many young people as possible, the fellows launched a social media campaign and organized a promotional event at the First Gymnasium in Sarajevo. The project achieved over 21,000 views and 12,755 profile visits.
