The Bertelsmann Foundation and Humanity in Action have teamed up with Andrew Keen, author of How to Fix the Future, to launch How to Fix Democracy: a video and podcast series exploring practical responses to the threats facing democracies around the world. Host Andrew Keen interviews prominent thinkers, writers, politicians, technologists, and business leaders who enlighten and challenge us as we seek the answers to How to Fix Democracy.
Here he speaks with Norman Ornstein, resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.
Norman Ornstein has been immersed in US politics in the nation’s capitol for over 50 years. He describes how his publication titled “Why Republicans Are to Blame” led him to lose many friends, and why he believes the GOP is no longer a conservative party—but rather a radical one. Despite some of the “irreparable damage” that has been done, he remains hopeful about the growing grassroots efforts, civic organizations and the work of the newly-elected US Representatives.
