Humanity in Action proudly continued its mission of strengthening the commitment of our network of Fellows and Senior Fellows to democratic values, while increasing their knowledge of human rights challenges past and present.

Humanity in Action is proud to showcase its 2022 Activity Report. This international report features the activities and accomplishments from each of the six National Offices, along with programs that were collaboratively implemented internationally.

In 2022, Humanity in Action was able to return to in-person programming, building from the challenges of the past few years in order to continue its mission of strengthening the commitment to our network of Fellows and Senior Fellows to democratic values, while increasing their knowledge of human rights challenges past and present.

This programming included the 10th International Humanity in Action gathering in Berlin, with 130 Humanity in Action Fellows, Senior Fellows, staff past and present, board members, friends, supporters, and partners. The conference, sponsored by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) and the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF), focused on Antisemitism, racism, and discrimination of, and hatred towards, the LGBTQI community in Europe.

Our Fellowships also continued to evolve in 2022, with the creation of the new Mapping Inequities program in the U.S. and the dual European Fellowship, jointly led by Humanity in Action Netherlands and Germany.

Internationally, our offices have continued to collaborate closely on a variety of projects, including the Landecker Democracy Fellowship. In partnership with the Alfred Landecker Foundation, the Fellowship brings together 30 diverse leaders from across Europe and the United States to shape democratic spaces in our digital age. We also continued film development projects, as “Voices in the Void,” the third film in the Traces trilogy, was launched by the Danish Embassy in Israel. “I, Too,” a documentary film co-production between Humanity in Action and the Bertelsmann Foundation, premiered and continues to screen in cities around the world.

We are thankful to the Humanity in Action staff who have coordinated and managed this work throughout 2022 despite the challenges. We are grateful to all the National Boards who strategically guide us in bringing our vision a reality. We also extend our deepest gratitude to our funders who believe in our projects and activities. Finally, we thank all who continue to support us in our mission and help us to grow, connect, and educate young leaders around the world.
