In 2023, Bojan Francuz and George Bogden, two Humanity in Action Senior Fellows were included in the LGBTQIA+ Out in National Security Leadership List by “Out In National Security,” a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to empowering queer national security professionals.

We applaud our national security enterprise’s efforts to build on LGBTQIA+ presence and voices in our institutions and advance LGBTQIA+ rights at home and abroad,” the official Press Release states, noting the “character, resilience, [and] determination to live authentically in a field that is not always welcoming or inclusive.”

Watch the ceremony:

According to the organization, over 70 anti-LGBTQ bills have passed into law in America, with 520 more introduced in State Houses across the country. Especially under these circumstances, “we’re grateful that our honorees have stood up to be counted and say, ‘gay,’” Out In National Security adds.

Notably, this is not the first time that Humanity in Action Senior Fellows were included in this prestigious list: the 2020 list of selected experts included Kyle Rohrich, a 2014 Diplomacy & Diversity Fellowship Senior Fellow.
