Adam Echelman is a Senior Landecker Fellow as well as a 2021 – 2022 Detroit Grant Competition Recipient.

Through this grant, Adam set out to produce a multimedia story that sheds light on the everyday experiences of adults who struggle with the digital divide. The project builds on his work as a Landecker Fellow, where he worked across the country to help individuals write Op Eds and produce first-person narratives.

In June 2022, the final product of his project titled The Wires That Bind went live! This multimedia story describes how one neighborhood in Detroit grapples with the high cost of internet. “Internet is like water, says Violeta Ramirez in Spanish. ‘It’s that important.’ But three years ago, her tap ran dry,” explains the page.
