Observing the deteriorating situation of minorities and marginalized groups during the pandemic in Poland and in the world, we came to the conclusion that this year our Academy is even more needed than ever before. That’s why we accepted the challenge! From June 3rd to 24th 2020, we implement the 15th edition of the Academy of Human Rights / Humanity in Action Fellowship under the honorary patronage of the Polish Commissioner for Human Rights in the only possible format: virtual! As in recent years, we will be working for three weeks together with 23 outstanding young leaders and activists from Poland, Germany, Ukraine and the United States, focusing on the rights of minorities, especially in the time of a pandemic.

Our Fellows will learn through each other and develop a range of skills that are crucial for their activism and leadership. Under the guidance of specialists and experts from various fields, they will be working in international teams. They will work on specific human rights cases and look for creative anti-discrimination and anti-hate activities aimed at young people, including in collaboration with Wikipedia. In previous years, the following Action Project initiatives were developed out of the Academy of Human Rights: Conflict Kitchen (Kuchnia Konfliktu), HER Docs Film Festival, Hospitality Initiative (Inicjatywa Gośc-inność), Mental Health Buddies Network (Sieć Przyjaciół Zdrowia Psychicznego).
