80 years of freedom – what does that mean?

Join us on 5 May in Amsterdam for our Liberation Day community kick-off with guest speaker Jerry Afriyie. Engage in thought-provoking conversations on inclusive remembrance while enjoying a delicious Freedom Soup, offered by the National Committee May 4 and 5.

Inclusive remembrance dialogue

The theme “inclusive remembrance” provides a space to reflect on the needs and developments in society. Jerry will share his vision on the topic, after which we enter the Freedom Dialogue to explore what commemoration means, when people feel included, and what understanding of sustainable peace exists.

We will introduce you to the Brave Space approach – a structured conversation model built on respect, deep listening, and mutual commitment. This is a chance to practice genuine curiosity, embrace diverse perspectives, and deepen our collective understanding.
