📚 Are you a teacher looking for knowledge and tools to teach about anti-Semitism?
Would you like to strengthen your professional toolbox for teaching about anti-Semitism, genocide, and the Holocaust?
Humanity in Action Denmark is launching another round of our Teacher Seminars — a tailor-made course for educators, this time focusing on concrete tools for teaching about anti-Semitism and creating safe spaces for dialogue in the classroom.
🟦 What will you get out of the Teacher Seminar?
- Knowledge about anti-Semitism – historically and today
- Concrete methods for teaching students about anti-Semitism and genocide
- A practice-oriented course that you can take directly back into the classroom
You will meet speakers suc as: Sofie Lene Bak, associate professor of History at the University of Copenhagen and specialist in Jewish history in Denmark, anti-Semitism, and racism. Uri Krivaa, headmaster at Carolineskolen. Solvej Berlau, high school teacher at Slagelse Gymnasium and author of books and teaching materials on anti-Semitism, genocide, and the Holocaust. Marek Azoulay, consultant, speaker, etc., and board member of a number of organizations including Nyt Europa and Mino Danmark.
🟧 Why participate?
Since the terrorist attack in Israel on October 7, 2023, anti-Semitism in Denmark has been on the rise. Many young people encounter misinformation and stereotypical ideas – both online and in their everyday lives – which contribute to increasing polarization in society, and perhaps also in your classroom. But how do you teach about anti-Semitism? And how do you teach about it without increasing polarization? How do you create a safe environment for difficult conversations?
As a teacher, you play a key role in providing students and pupils with concrete and factual knowledge about anti-Semitism, the role it has played in Danish history, and the role it plays today. We will discuss how we as teachers can equip students for critical thinking, democratic education, and respectful dialogue.
🟦 Who can participate?
Teachers in secondary education (lærere på ungdomsuddannelser) as well as primary school teachers who want to strengthen their skills in teaching about anti-Semitism, genocide, and the Holocaust.
