Landecker Democracy Fellow Catherine Neilan’s podcast Making Common Ground launched in January 2021. Catherine, a journalist who currently serves as Politics Live Editor at the Telegraph, created this podcast with the goal of creating in-depth conversations amongst different groups of people.

In episode six, Catherine hosts Polly Mackenzie, chief executive of Demos and former director of policy to Nick Clegg. They talk about the origins of polarization in Britain, the role of social media, and how to engage in difficult conversations with people who are on the other side of the argument. Catherine is one of thirty Landecker Democracy Fellows.
