Article

Landecker Fellow Iason Apostolopoulos was invited to talk on a webinar hosted by the social center “Nosotros.” This Athens-based group invited Iason along with other human rights activists who worked on the front-lines of the refugee crisis in the Greek islands. They discussed how the current political climate, particularly the far-right rhetoric of the current government, has affected the stances of the local populations towards refugees. There was also a discussion on the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has affected the refugee population.

The event took place at 18:30 CEST, or 12:30 EST. Click here to view the webinar.

Iason is one of thirty Alfred Landecker fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
