Article

Landecker Democracy Fellow Asha Iman Veal has joined forces with the 6018 North experimental arts and culture space in Chicago, where her new exhibition titled RAISIN will take place this fall. This exhibition is a partner project of the Chicago Architecture Biennial 2021 and will feature over 30 tremendous artists.

Aside from the exhibition itself, Asha is organizing several accompanying events. One of them is the Artist Talk with Brett Swinney and his family members, who will “discuss a photo diptych that explores their memories of this South Side Chicago home. A span of 20 years separates the two portraits.”

This conversation will take place on September 18 via Zoom, with a rebroadcast Lumpen Radio. For more information about the event and to register, click here. Asha Iman is one of thirty Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
