Abe van Kampen is an International Relations and Political Communication student in Amsterdam. During his Bachelor’s in Political Science, his interest developed in the interaction between politics and media in the current day and age, particularly the importance of public trust in media as an integral part of democratic resilience.
Throughout his work, he aims to engage with high school students about the effects of social media on the development of their views and opinions. In addition, his experiences have brought him into contact with the ways in which journalists and media professionals strive to preserve their freedoms in order to do their work.
He plans to continue his academic journey with a Master’s degree in Law, aiming to deepen his understanding of how democracy and a free press can remain strong in today’s media landscape.
