Ashley Monteiro is a 22-year-old student currently completing her dual Bachelor’s degree in European and International Law and Technology at the University of Groningen. Born in the Netherlands, raised in Luxembourg, and of Cape Verdean descent, Ashley’s multicultural upbringing has shaped her identity as a global citizen and inspired a deep commitment to human rights and inclusive policymaking.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Ashley is a passionate advocate and community leader. She served as President of Black Ladies of Groningen and co-founded a support group for Black female students at her university—initiatives aimed at fostering empowerment, representation, and belonging.

Ashley’s dedication extends to institutional change through her role on the Well-being, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee at the University of Groningen, where she works to build a more empathetic and supportive campus culture.

By bridging legal expertise with grassroots activism, Ashley strives to challenge systemic injustice and amplify underrepresented voices.
