Dr. Eda Elif Tibet is an award winning documentary filmmaker and currently an advanced postdoctoral researcher at the Wyss Academy for Nature at the University of Bern. Being part of Bridging Values for just conservation‚ a transdisciplinary consortia research project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and EU Biodiversa +, she works on Equitable Biodiversity Governance across six national protected areas in Lao PDR, South Africa, Brazil, Spain, Sweden, and Germany.
Formerly a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Geography at the University of Bern (2023), Dr. Tibet holds a fellowship on Enacting Global Transformation at the University of Oxford (2020) and a PhD in Social Anthropology funded by the SNSF in collaboration with PH Bern (2019). She obtained a graduate teaching assistant scholarship from the University of Kent where she completed an MPhil in Social Anthropology at the Anthropology and Conservation Department (2013). She also holds a BA degree with honors on Economics from Istanbul Bilgi University (2009).
She worked as a consultant and board member for various NGOs in the field of conservation and transformative education, as well as held a leadership position in the fields of sustainable development, systems change, and social innovation. Dr. Tibet is the founder of trailblazing applied research initiatives, such as: Animating the Commons, Fairy Dust Cappadocia, KarmaMotion, and the International EthnoKino Film Festival.
