Gemma Timpano

Gemma Timpano is a political science student based in The Hague, focusing her research on the essential role of community-based and gender-aware civil society organisations in processes of transitional justice and reconciliation. In her role with the Centre for African Justice, Peace and Human Rights (CAJPHR), she supported capacity-building initiatives that aim to integrate grassroots methods into international criminal law to improve human rights accountability. Gemma has also contributed to Amnesty International and the World Justice Project through various volunteer positions. A passionate musician, Gemma was an active member of the Jerusalem Youth Chorus, an initiative that fosters dialogue between Israeli and Palestinian youth through music. She hopes to delve deeper into the intersection of the artistic and the political through the Humanity in Action Fellowship.
