Article

Katie studied Mechanical Engineering and Global Health with a minor in Sustainability at Arizona State University. As a Goldwater and Udall Scholar, she split her time between the Luminosity Lab and the NEWT Engineering Research Center, working on projects ranging from UV water treatment to sustainable sterilization. Proud to be a fifth-generation 4-H member, she serves as a Global 4-H Youth Representative. Through organizations such as Engineer Without Borders, she recognized the gender inequalities worsened by water insecurity and climate change. She is passionate about environmental justice within the water and sanitation sector and will pursue an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development at the University of Cambridge as a Marshall Scholar. After hours, she can be found ballroom dancing, cooking, or playing with her dogs.
