Laura is a non-profit lawyer and progressive political advocate – after law school, she did a state court clerkship and then went to Washington to do policy advocacy for Public Citizen. She challenged Bush Administration nominees that opposed health and safety rules, lobbied in Congress to enhance consumer protections and environmental rules, and helped to bring litigation against lawless federal agencies when warranted. Laura joined the Brennan Center for Justice in 2008, where she works on campaign finance rules as part of improving the accountability and responsiveness of elected officials to ordinary citizens. She has had op-eds published in Politico, The Boston Globe, Tech President, The Hill and Roll Call, among others. She also teach a class on policy advocacy at NYU School of Law.
