Renske holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology (2015) and a master’s degree in Conflict Studies and Human Rights (2019) from Utrecht University.
During her bachelor, she became a Youth Advocate and Trainer at CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality (2013) where she lobbied for and gave training on SRHR.
As student-assistant, she developed a BA course on gender, sexuality and the body. As part of her BA thesis, she conducted field research on the entwinement of Gender, Sexuality and HIV/AIDS in South Africa. After her BA graduation, she taught at the Department of Anthropology of Utrecht University as Junior Professor and became Board Member of CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality. During her master’s degree, she conducted research on the Securitization of the European Border in Lesvos and specialized in European asylum and migration politics. Renske’s engaged attitude towards human rights issues is also reflected in a variety of voluntary and adventurous endeavours such as driving from England to Mongolia and sailing across the Atlantic Ocean the world to raise awareness for climate change and human rights (2016, 2019).
