Having been born in Denmark to parents of Scandinavian and Inuit descent, and later raised in Greenland. Rumle Labansen spends a lot of time thinking about the complex relationship between Greenland and Denmark. He currently serves as International Officer in Avalak, a student organization based in Denmark, aimed at communicating and mitigating the many challenges Greenlandic students face, when relocating to Denmark to gain a higher education. In his work he facilitates collaboration between student organizations across the north by participating in meetings such as NORDISKT ORDFÖRANDE MÖTE (NOM) and North-Atlantic Islands’ Student Cooperation (NAIS).
