Article

Zara is deeply committed to placing humanitarians and policy makers at the center of AI innovation, ensuring technology serves equity and societal progress. Her passion for ethical AI was shaped on the French-Italian border, where she witnessed biased algorithms and facial recognition tech harm asylum-seekers — galvanizing her fight for inclusive, human-centered AI practices. A recent Davis Scholar at NYU, Zara earned her BA in Politics, Rights, and Development with a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies. Her education spanned six NYU campuses (Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Florence, New York, and London), giving her a truly global perspective on human rights, migration, and technology governance. Zara’s leadership has been recognized with the prestigious Dr. Patricia M. Carey Changemaker Award for her decolonial and equity-driven initiatives. Through her advocacy, research, and cross-sector collaborations, she continues to bridge activism, policy, and tech for a more just, accountable future.
