Our community takes action to defend democratic values around the world. Explore our Fellows' Action Projects here.
In the 11 months following the on-site Fellowship program, our Fellows work on their Action Project: an independent venture focused on promoting democratic values in their own communities. Action Projects are as diverse as Humanity in Action Fellows. Fellows apply their new knowledge and perspectives to the communities they impact—in whatever format they find meaningful. The Humanity in Action community is a great resource for getting support—be it with contacts, experience or good advice.

Tanforan: From Internment Center to Shopping Mall is a documentary film about a shopping mall in California called Tanforan, which served as a temporary internment camp for Japanese-Americans from the Bay Area during their forced relocation in WWII.

Poland for All is a short film intended to communicate the positive changes in society as a whole and show the youngest Poles of different origins.

Campaign Against Stop and Frisk in France (Stop le Contrôle au Faciès)
French Senior Fellows led a campaign to improve police accountability, oppose racial profiling and provide tools for legal recourse for victims of stop and frisk in France.

Not Just a Private Issue
Not Just a Private Issue is a project created by Lefkothea Rizopoulou, based in Greece, which brings females together with the aim of raising questions and opening a dialogue around gender-based violence. Lefkothea organised a series of workshops which created awareness, highlighted vital information, and forged deep connections and channels of understanding between the women involved.

Haar Minaret: An online community platform, network and archive
As her Action Project, Landecker Democracy Fellow Alina is creating an online platform that gives answer to the needs of various Muslims in the Netherlands for a more inclusive Islamic community where experiences can be shared, language to articulate these is created, conversations are ongoing, and home within a Muslim community is an option again.

Roots & Routes
Roots and Routes is a newsletter dedicated to empowering, connecting, and celebrating Afro-Caribbean alumni and graduates. Its mission is to promote communication and cooperation among alumni graduates of Dutch Universities (WO and HBO) who are dedicated to the advancement of people of Afro-Caribbean descent. The Roots and Routes newsletter seeks to foster a network for personal and professional connections and gives alumni of color a sense of community and family.

2020 Amsterdam Fellows Suze van Zijl and Akef Ibrahimi organized a closed-circle talk about how to organize inclusive sex-ed and invited a diverse group of people to share.
