Our community takes action to defend democratic values around the world. Explore our Fellows' Action Projects here.
In the 11 months following the on-site Fellowship program, our Fellows work on their Action Project: an independent venture focused on promoting democratic values in their own communities. Action Projects are as diverse as Humanity in Action Fellows. Fellows apply their new knowledge and perspectives to the communities they impact—in whatever format they find meaningful. The Humanity in Action community is a great resource for getting support—be it with contacts, experience or good advice.

#PremiereLigne
Landecker Democracy Fellow Noufel Bouzenboudja is a writer and artist from North Africa who mixes art with active citizenship projects. Noufel’s project will be the creation and implementation of an online platform called #PremiereLigne to disseminate stories of Paris banlieue residents.

#Trillenials for civil society
Landecker Democracy Fellow Vlad Dumitrescu is currently working for the Civil Society Development Foundation in Bucharest, Romania. Vlad will work with a group of at least 25 young individuals, who will be called #trillenials, from all over Romania, and enroll them in a one-year learning program.

Bijlmer Valley - Get Digital
Landecker Democracy Fellow Zawdie Sandvliet is a Social Studies teacher and the initiator of the Afro-Dutch Studies at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. His project will create awareness around the historically determined disparities within the Dutch elementary and high school education system when it comes to opportunities and educational results.

Cross-Cultural Solidarity - A Raisin in the Sun
Landecker Democracy Fellow Asha Iman Veal explores cross-cultural solidarity across communities that are often kept apart by geographic or political distance. She is the organizer for a contemporary art exhibition that explores and reactivates global interpretations of the classic story A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry.

WE CARE: Empowering Migrant Care Workers On- and Offline
Landecker Democracy Fellow Flavia Matei is an architect working at the University of Art and Design in Linz, Austria. In her free time, Flavia is a committed activist for migrant workers’ rights.

Empowering Women and Girls in NYC
Landecker Democracy Fellow Reshma Persaud is a Manager of Principal Giving at the International Rescue Committee. In support of activism through art, Reshma and SQWM will host an exhibition highlighting immigrant communities, families, or/and anonymous GBV survivors for them to "Tell their Stories Through Art" either virtually or in-person.

Talking About Inequality
Senior Fellows Tess Luttikhuis and Annelie Boeren developed a short intersectional educational program with first-year secondary school students through an interactive game on the theme of inequality in Dutch society.

Critical Charity Workshop
Senior Fellow Marie Nele Wolfram, together with Joe Ntwali, organzied a critical charity workshop in Berlin for members of the Love Foundation.
