Our community takes action to defend democratic values around the world. Explore our Action Projects here.
In the 11 months following the on-site Fellowship program, our Fellows work on their Action Project: an independent venture focused on promoting democratic values in their own communities. Action Projects are as diverse as Humanity in Action Fellows. Fellows apply their new knowledge and perspectives to the communities they impact—in whatever format they find meaningful. The Humanity in Action community is a great resource for getting support—be it with contacts, experience or good advice. Urban Justice
Initially, Karolina's Action Project was supposed to focus on one aspect only - the urban chaos. As it turned out, it would also serve as a study of the ever-regressing public municipal sphere, lacking legal basis, and general helplessness regarding the relation of commoner-authority.

OVERCOMING PHARAOHS - international summer seminar for educators and youth workers!
Nitzan Menagem - chair of the German branch of the Jewish left-wing youth movement Hashomer Hatzair and founder of the educational initiative ROSBOT and Joanna Matera - psychologist focused on social cognition and intergroup relations - met online during the 2020 Humanity in Action Poland Fellowship/Academy of Human Rights. This inspired their friendship and project-collaboration!

Mental health issues are still a taboo in Polish society, preventing many from seeking help or being open about their condition in fear of being stigmatized.

ARTIVISM - on the use of Art as a social transformation tool
Inspired by the collective actions of Youth Peace Ambassadors Network, Maciej Rotowski of the 2019 Warsaw Fellowship organized a 5 day-long training on artivism in Spain. Together with YPAN he brought together artists and activists and equipped them with necessary tools to advance peace and human rights.

Voices From Inside
Iga and Nathan found they were both drawn to stories of injustice and exclusion and decided to focus their shared Action Project on amplifying the voices of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people in the US.

Hanna Jaśkiewicz, queer activist and Fellow of the 2019 Warsaw Academy of Human Rights, runs the social media account @przez.pryzmat dedicated to less visible groups in the queer community.

“Stereotype Breakers”. Perception of Jewish community and culture in Poland
Magdalena Fuchs has long been fascinated by the Jewish culture and interreligious dialogue. It was only natural that her idea for the Action Project had to involve education and tolerance. As a lawyer and human rights activist, she knows best the value of teaching solidarity with minority groups and the real danger of hate speech.
