The project “Hospitality Initiative (Inicjatywa Gośc-inność)” was supported by Humanity in Action as a grant competition project.
Inspired to combat the offensive, negative connotations surrounding the word ‘refugee’ in Poland, Humanity in Action Senior Fellow Nina Lazarcyzk created educational cooking workshops called Hospitality Workshops (GośćInność) dedicated for the youth, run by migrants and refugees in order to bring people together.
The workshops provide an opportunity to learn not only about different cuisines, but also about the related country, habits and religion. They gave teenagers the ability to grasp such concepts as migration, migrants, refugees, asylum seekers or internally displaced persons, but most importantly they hear real stories of people not online, but offline.
